The organisation was founded in 2010 by CEO Martine Verweij, with the simple aim to provide running and exercise opportunities for primary aged children. It operated under the Kids Run Free brand name for a decade, before switching to Marathon Kids UK in time for the 2020/21 academic year.

Marathon Kids UK is run in schools during term time, and in parks and other green spaces across the UK at weekends and during the school holidays. Where ever children run, Marathon Kids UK is designed to give all children an opportunity to run, move and develop a passion for sport.

The charity is grateful to be supported by sporting behemoth Nike, and Marathon Kids UK athletes have been fortunate to have the likes of Sir Mo FarahMark Cavendish and David Weir at events in the past.

Hundreds of thousands of children have already benefited from the work of Marathon Kids UK over the last 10 years, with your support we can continue to provide much needed funds.

Please consider making Marathon Kids UK your chosen charity for your Raceways events. All you have to do is click YES to raising funds for Marathon Kids UK, when prompted to do so in your registration, then just raise a minimum of £100 and we will refund your registration fee. Thank you. #BeAmazing
